HYDERABAD: The three-year-old boy Rakesh who fell into a borewell in Bommareddygudem thanda in Pulkal mandal on Saturday morning, was extracted early on Sunday morning - nearly 24 hours after the incident. Doctors who rushed him to a hospital though declared that the child was dead.
Efforts to dig a parallel trench with earth moving machines to pull the boy hit a bed of rocks late on Saturday night.
Even as officials began pondering how to remove the rocks, some private entrepreneurs who work on extracting dead submersible pumps in borewells, finally managed to pass two loops of ropes around the child’s legs and gently lifted him out of the borewell.
However, by then it was too late for Rakesh who was found stuck in the borewell head down. CCTV cameras sent down into the borehole found that the child was completely covered in soil with only his legs and part of torso visible.
In a four-hour stretch of final operation, the boy was pulled out and the paramedical personnel and doctors stationed at the spot rushed the child to the hospital where he was declared dead.
